Spring is just around the corner, and soon the market will be flooded with sun creams again. At Admixtio, we are particularly focused on eco-friendly sun creams, in which only physical filters, namely zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, can be used. In their traditional (non-nano) version, these minerals form an effective barrier against UV rays, but they can leave a white film on the skin, which makes some people perceive them as unaesthetic and difficult to apply. To address this problem, nano-sized (nano) versions have emerged, which allow for a more even and transparent application without compromising sun protection.<\/p>\n

However, the use of nanoparticles in cosmetic products has generated debate. Although studies suggest that nano versions of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide do not cross the intact skin barrier, there are concerns about their possible absorption into damaged skin or their environmental impact. It has been shown that suspended nanoparticles may be more reactive and potentially toxic to aquatic organisms, especially in marine environments where sunscreen residues can affect coral ecosystems and other species.<\/p>\n

In turn, non-nano versions, as they do not present these potential risks, are considered safer for the environment and human health, although they may be less comfortable to use.
